"If design is just a 9-to-5 job for you then that’s a different set of requirements. I guess everything I’m saying in this interview is not to those people though. To me, it’s a calling. You come home and you can’t turn it off. I’m speaking to those kinds of people. So my advice is to figure out what kind of designer you aspire to be and then focus on doing that kind of work."

~ Ben Barry, Behance’s 99% article. Such a good interview!

"One of my favorite quotes is “Done is better than perfect.” That doesn’t mean making crap – I believe you should always strive for the highest quality you can – but you have to finish. I think a lot of my friends in this situation don’t realize how in-demand their skills are. I think if you follow through on projects and just put the tiniest little effort into promoting yourself and have the tiniest bit of self-confidence, you can get the job you want."

My first Magazine cover.

I shot my friend Olivia Thirlby for the cover of Brooklyn Magazine. Read the story. She’s a really talented, well spoken young force in acting, and she talks about her bisexuality via being photographed for Self Evident, and the importance of being comfortable with who you are.

Occupy Davis News Update of the Day: At a student rally today in UC Davis, Chancellor Linda Katehi made a brief announcement concerning the now-infamous pepper-spraying incident that occurred in the quad last week.

Katehi, who personally ordered UCD police to remove the Occupy protesters from the quad, said she was sorry and feels “horrible about what happened.”

Many of the thousands who gathered to hear Katehi speak were not impressed by her platitudes, calling for the termination of Police Chief Annette Spicuzza and UCD Lt. John Pike. Both Spicuzza and Pike, as well as a third unidentified officer, were recently placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

Students and faulty members have demanded that Katehi herself to resign, but, speaking on ABC’s Good Morning America, Katehi said she was staying put.

“I really feel confident at this point the university needs me,” Katehi told GMA. “There are so many critical issues to be addressed and we really need to start the healing process and move forward.”

Below: Andy Baio of Waxy.org has taken the liberty of synchronizing four of the clearest videos showing the pepper-spraying incident in question. As one YouTuber notes, the result is really hard to watch, but essential viewing nonetheless.
